Privacy Policy
The Honest Copy is committed to transparency — in our journalism and in how we handle your data. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do with it.
What We Collect
Public Visitors
When you read articles on The Honest Copy, we do not use third-party analytics, tracking pixels, advertising cookies, or fingerprinting. We do not sell, share, or monetize visitor data.
Our web server records standard access logs (IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user agent) for security and operational purposes. These logs are retained for 30 days and then deleted.
RSS Subscribers
Our RSS feed is served directly — we do not track who subscribes or how often feeds are fetched.
Admin Sessions
The editorial admin interface uses session cookies for authentication. These cookies are HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax, and contain no personal information beyond a session identifier. They expire when the browser is closed or after a period of inactivity.
Third-Party Services
Google Fonts. We load typefaces from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com). Google may collect standard web request data when fonts are loaded. See Google Fonts Privacy FAQ.
We do not use any other third-party services that process visitor data.
Data We Publish
All legislative data published on this site is sourced from official U.S. government records that are already public. We do not publish private information about individuals. Representative names, voting records, and bill sponsorship data are matters of public record available on Congress.gov.
Changes to This Policy
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and note the nature of the change. Material changes will be noted on the front page.
